Stress Busters

Workshop for Identifying & Managing Stress

In today's fast paced busy life, we all seem to experience som measure of stress, some more than others.  Many people strive to live their life in balance (a noble goal) but for most of us, an unattainable one;  unless you have the skills to do so.  Stress Busters will define stress, take a look at what life events can cause stress, and the ways to manage it once we discover we have it.

We live in a world of constant stimulation!  Our lives are more complicated and busy than ever before.  We are bogged down with pagers, cell phones, email, text messaging - all designed to keep us within arms reach of any new, existing or developing crisis.

All this stimulation creates an anxious, stressed society.  The population is over-scheduled and over-stimulated, which brings on a slew of disorders. Today, 70-90% of doctor visits originate from negative stress.

Negative stress is bad and can bring on illness or "dis-ease", but not all stress is negative.  Some stress is necessary in order to generate productivity.  This would be considered "good" stress, so to a certain point the more the stress the greater the output, until you reach a point of over stress - otherwise known as "hitting the wall" - and productivity begins to decline dramatically.

In the 3-hour Stress Buster's workshop, we will:

  • Define Positive and Negative Stress
  • Take a test to determine each participant's current stress level
  • Discover the importance of proper breathing to reduce stress
  • Participate in several individual and group stress reduction activities
  • Examine "the power of choice" and the effect your choices have
  • Learn "at-your-desk" techniques to practice during stressful situations

At the end of the workshop, each participant will have the necessary tools and techniques to better identify and manage stress in their personal and professional lives.
